You look like an animal, You stand like a stone, You act so indifferent, You're callous and cold. Is it easy for you to treat me like an illness? To say I'm villain in a story that isn't yours? Toughen up, there's a new sheriff in town. She's a girl, she's a gun, step aside, she'll shoot you down. La di da, la di da, la la di da, La di da, la di da, la di da. You cry like an infant that's just been dethroned You tear down the curtains, you watch it unfold. You like to say that you're the star of an Italian western, but have you considered you're playing the foe?

You scared me in the summer Talking like you had to I don’t hold it against you Now I’ve got it figured out I was no quitter Trained myself to give into it Just to keep you interested Your silence tortured me Is this what I want? I can feel the cost Sulk to your friends You’ll call me crazy too Meanwhile they never knew All of the shit That you had put me through I know you’re not the fool You called me after midnight Said that you could let it go “But baby, that was months ago The past isn’t my fault”
You sound convincing, but I Trained myself to snap out of this trance, I see the smoke and mirrors I’ve got you figured out You’re not what I want I’ll withhold my love Sulk to your friends You’ll call me crazy too Meanwhile they never knew All of the shit That you had put me through I know you’re not the fool You caused this mess The monster moves in you But I won’t lose my cool I don’t hold it against you I can live without you now

Benny 03:12
Benny was thirty, looked twenty-five He was a prom queen, class of ’09 But Benny was different, he was a guy But nobody knew it, he was trying to hide Benny had long hair, cut it himself They thought he was sexy, said he should model The big screen, but he knew, eventually they’d all Run from poor Benny, he’d be all alone Shower you in a wave of kisses You know you’re in a warm, loving home We will adore you A beautiful man with a warm, loving home A warm, loving home Benny was crying, didn’t want to tell ‘em After he graduates, they’ll disappear Because Benny is Benny And no longer whatever Name they would call him They’d probably lose all their love For poor Benny, His heart’s in the right place They’ll still love Benny He won’t be alone Shower you in a wave of kisses You know you’re in a warm, loving home We will adore you A beautiful man with a warm, loving home A warm, loving home We’ll say your name, Stand by your side, You know you’re in a warm, loving home We will adore A beautiful man who has always been Always been In a warm, loving home A warm, loving home

The Greatest 03:12
It’s just like you to run around and call yourself the greatest When all I hear coming out from your mouth is the same shit Just gimme something new to reconsider your merit I’m over it And I can’t bear to hear another word of it And you can’t bear to face the facts You are less than perfect, just give up the act You know I used to think you were fine until I realized your voice was shrill And you were only hiding the secrets All the girls you tried berating to pieces And you think that you deserve special treatment But there’s a part of me that knows that you know That you are just another leech and your goal is to Step over others who deserve it more than you But it’s that obvious and you won’t sell the truth I’m warning you, better listen

The world is unread Like a postcard you never mailed in ‘Cause you don’t want to, You’re grinding your teeth ‘Cause it’s the fifth time this week A sixth time wouldn’t hurt Except it’d destroy you ‘Cause you never know The world is unread We’ve all got claws in our backs And nobody’s okay The world is unread Like a text you sent that says what he did You feel so vulnerable And brought down to your knees ‘Cause it’s the first time he’s hurt you Another time couldn't be worse, could it? Except it’d destroy you ‘Cause nobody knows The world is unread We’ve barely scratched the surface Every time we’ve learned something We’ve ignored twenty more Are our eyes in our sockets? Are we barely conscious? He’s won and you’ve lost it While he laughs in the office The world is unread Like her story’s always been Is it her fault again? Do you teach your children? When a calendar’s a defense When you pay off your secrets And party with all your demons Would you believe your daughter? Would you believe your daughter? Would you believe your daughter? Would you believe your daughter?

about

Back in 2019, I came up with a really funny name for an EP that quickly turned into a genuine passion project. I wanted to take stories about cowboys, crazy ex-girlfriends, coming of age, the music scene, and power, and subvert them from the usual cis man's perspective. Working on these songs with other people felt like a nice change of pace from "This Might Be Healing," which was all done by myself in a fit of isolation. I hope these songs resonate with you.
